About Me (Your lead Genealogist)
My name is Mairead Greene and I am a professional genealogist. I have a passionate interest in Irish History and in particular Irish Family History and have studied both, in University College Dublin. I have lived in the Centre of Rural Ireland all of my life. I know and love Ireland and would love to guide you, on your journey to your ancestral homestead.
I don’t believe that you should spend all your time in this beautiful Island of ours, stuck in some office in the city, researching your family tree. I can do that for you, I will visit the record offices and genealogy centres and obtain the birth certificates and/or marriage certs of your ancestors. I will leave no stone unturned in finding out all about your ancestors and perhaps might even find a living relative for you to visit or the exact building from which your ancestor left, all those years ago.
I will pay attention to the little things which will make your Irish trip very unique and special. Our tours are limited to between ten and twenty people. So you can do it your way. With small groups we can change our itinerary to suit the group or the weather! You’ll get to talk to the locals and if you’d like, I can arrange for you to visit a local working farm and try milking a cow or visit a bog and try your hand at turf rearing! We might also check out a local football or hurling match.
If it’s doable we’ll do it and where there’s fun to be had we’ll have it!
I guarantee that you will not leave Ireland disappointed. You will have experienced a true sense of being Irish and will want to return here to our beautiful country again and again.
